Whoo! Another Sunday! That makes for happy since it is Six Sentence Sunday, which is:
- You pick six (6) sentences from anything you’ve written–a work in progress (wip), something under submission, something sold; something new, something old.
- You sign up at the Six Sunday website Tuesday starting at 6PM EST.
- You post it on Sunday (along with posting a link of suxisunday.com)! Such as I have below.
- And then you enjoy.
And last week Lawson saw escape in the way of a wagon ride. The only problem is the wagon is driven by Jenson, someone who may despise him, as he has attempted to beat Lawson in a drug haze at one point. They’ve got a bit of history to say the least. Fast-frowarding a bit to their conversation.
Lawson could feel Catherine trembling beside him; he understood why she was scared. Nothing like this had ever happened in Zephyr City, and it had been a century since a city had been decommissioned.
“You’ve got to get us away,” Lawson said fiercely, clutching Catherine’s hand. He raised it. “You’ve at least got to get Catherine away.”
Jenson fidgeted with the steering mechanisms and said, “I don’t think I got to do anything, Soul.”
Well, Jenson may have improved after getting away from the drugs, but he certainly hasn’t changed completely. Next week: Jenson’s decision. Make sure you check out all the other wonderful sixes. There’s a lot of good in a little place. Enjoy.
Strong six. You pack a lot of detail into their history and emotions in this snippet. Nice job.
Thank you, Cara. I appreciate that all of that comes across well. And I always appreciate hearing what you think.
Rat bastard! Oh, sorry. I mean, I hope Lawson is able to convince Jenson, or perhaps Catherine’s obvious distress will.
I think you were right on that firs take. ;) I’m sure Lawson will figure out some way to make Jenson come around. Or maybe he’ll just have a change of heart. We’ll see. Thanks, Stephanie!
No, he does “got to” because I said so! Come on Jenson! Honestly, J.M.! Must you engage the readers emotions so well? It’s so…writerly of you. ;)
Ha! Yeah, I totally have to engage you. Your reaction is damn near priceless. Keep it coming. :) Thanks, Kate.
lol yes you must engage our emotions so well. It’s what you do. Liking this tale more and more and now have a list of questions too… Carry on Writer lady :D
Yes, ma’am! Glad I can engage you, hoping to answer your questions here soon! Thanks, Sue.
Man, I already want to strangle Jensen. Great six, Jalisa. :)
Thanks, Siobhan! Yes, he’s certainly choke worthy at times. :)
I love Lawson’s selflessness here in wanting Catherine to get out at least. Great 6!
Thanks, Angela! Yeah, Lawson’s a real gentleman through and through. :)
Intense. You can feel the impending terror. Good hook at the end.
I’m glad that all of that’s coming through and that you feel as if the end is a good hook. Thank you so much, Patricia.
Nothing worse than having to rely on someone you know you can’t trust. Lawson is proving to be a very gallant little hero.
